Oh my god. There is no between temperatures in this place. Either my room is freezing and the rest of the house is fine or my room is burning and the rest of the house is cold. It's ridiculous.

I got up and showered this morning because I thought Meghan was coming over, but she was sick today. Poor baby. I thought about going back to bed right away, but I didn't. After a while I decided I was going to go do laundry, as soon as I had myself a bowl of cereal. My stomach threw a fit after the cereal though, so I ended up sleeping all day anyway.

I made dinner for myself last night. I'm trying to cook more often. I'd love to be known as someone who is, maybe not a wonderchef, but someone who can definitely put together a couple of kickass meals. I don't cook enough to have that distinction yet though.

So last night I made enchiladas. Once every year, my grandma makes enchiladas, and they are to die for. She finally gave out her recipe this year, and I modified that. I used fat-free refried beans, ground turkey, and hot salsa for the filling. It was really easy and cheap, and it tasted so, SO good.

I work 5-2a tonight, and then I have to go back in eight hours. It's not the worst turnaround I've ever had, and I think the money will be good. Better than last night, in any case.

Jesus Christ. I hate my period.

I am currently sitting in a computer lab on campus, and I just realized that the front of my pants are covered in my menstrual fluid. So attractive, yes? I was just talking to a girl from my french class. I wonder if she noticed. Fucking hell.

Also, a question for all of you. I sent Meghan a message asking if she'd come by my apartment before we go to Jen's tonight. She hasn't replied yet. She doesn't know where I live. If she hasn't replied by the time I leave campus this afternoon, should I send her directions just in case? Or would that be too pushy? I probably won't get a chance to send them any other time.

My computer died right before Easter. Its death was quite depressing. It was the first computer that was ever "mine."

When it died, Kristin told me I had two options: she could help me get a new one, or she would buy me one and pay for the whole thing herself. (Obviously I chose the first option. ) Yesterday we went to the little on campus Apple store and I picked out a new laptop! I have a MacBook Pro! *_* It's the prettiest thing I've ever seen, and I just don't know what to do with myself. It's almost too pretty to even use. I could put it out like a decoration and it'd still be worth the price.

But now I have a couple of problems. First of all, what do I call it? POLL! )

And second of all (this is more technical), IU uses a VPN with IPsec to connect to the wireless network here. I need two passwords for this: my individual password, and the shared secret for the whole campus. For some reason, Internet Connect feels the need to change the passwords I put in to something else entirely. My password is 9 characters long; the shared secret is 12 characters long. They are both getting changed to something 10 characters long. I don't have any passwords that are 10 characters, so I have no idea what they're reverting to. How can I fix this? Grr.

As iffy as I've been on this season of Veronica Mars, I have to say I love how often they're bringing Tina Majorino on air. I've had a crush on her since she was in Corrina, Corrina and When A Man Loves A Woman (and that movie with the seal). And she was only nine then!

Why is there so little femslash in the Veronica Mars fandom? I know the guys on the show are awesome, I love them too, but come on. There's room for all kinds of loving on that show. Take Mac and Veronica's dialogue from Versatile Toppings for instance, that's ripe for ficcing.

Paraphrasing, of course, because I can't find a transcript and I don't have a copy of the episode yet.

Veronica: I need you to get me onto Neptune's gay message boards.
Mac: Veronica, you're not...
Veronica: No, I'm just curious--

I've got the beginning of a fic(let) based on the episode, but I'm stuck on what to give Mac for a username. She'd obviously have something cool and geeky, but I have no idea what it would be. Would she go for something that actually had the word "Mac" in it? Or... I don't even know. If you were a really smart, computer-literate girl with a great sense of humor and a colored streak in your hair, what would your name be?

Poll #697224 Give Mac a username.
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All, participants: 1

What would Mac's username be on the Pirate Ship? (Message boards for Neptune High's gay population.)

It could be a beautiful thing, you know. I suppose it'd be lacking in the angst that makes so many of the VM ships great, but nerdy girls need love too. (That said, if I were a single girl at Neptune High, even I'd jump on the chance to date Cassidy/Beaver. I love that guy.)

While reminiscing about seeing his favorite movie, Titanic, in the theaters, my father had this to say: "What's her name? Kate Winslet. She wasn't the most attractive woman, but she was good for that role, right?"

...I am still flabbergasted.
